IT is committed to consolidating devices and uses its annual replacement budget on improving highly utilized devices. For example, if you have a desktop computer and also a laptop, please consolidate down to the laptop with a docking station. Having fewer devices ensures we have more reliable devices.
Below are some examples of the types of IT equipment you can request (Pictures are only for descriptive indicators, actual products may differ when deployed).
If you are requesting new equipment, please also provide a CP# (Capital Project Number) or a ME# (Minor Equipment Number). These are defined below.
*IT does not provide extra power supplies for laptops, wireless keyboards or mice, external speakers, please order those items with your Office Professional via your operating expense account.

Computers
*All Computers/Laptops come standard with 8Gb RAM and Solid State Drives. Computers/Laptops do not come with a DVD/CD drive any longer, most manufacturers do not produce them anymore. DVD/CD drives can be ordered separately as an attachable device via USB.

Finance Budget Definitions
Routine Capital
Routine Capital items include items individually priced between $5,000 and below $249,999. Routine Capital items should include: all replacement items, generally as a result of age or obsolescence, that are needed to continue to do business as usual and also any other non-direct patient care item.
Minor Equipment/Minor Instruments
Minor Equipment are those items individually priced between $200 and $4,999 and have a life of 3 years. This requirement must be met. Please be sure to budget the items that do not meet the minor equipment requirement into your department’s operational budget.
Major Projects
Major Projects are items above $250,000. All Major Project items need to be approved by the Hospital Board. Contact your Vice President to get on the Hospital Board’s meeting agenda. At this meeting, you will need to make a presentation to them explaining the use and needs of the Major Project.
